WW1 photo

I think I have found my nan's uncle who died at Gallipoli in 1915.  Does anyone out there in rootschat land know where I might obtain an official army photograph of him?  I have downloaded info from findmypast so I have the date and regiment and his army numbers.  Thank you in advance! :) Jan

you'd be lucky to find an  official individual military photo of him There may be unit photos with his Regimental archives/museum
Best place I think would be local papers of the time with his obituary OR his enlistment
if you post his details others can help look  :)

Thanks Ady
I will do some more digging.  He was Patrick James MCGEE who enlisted in Canning Town, London.  Regiment Royal Dublin Fusiliers, number 14373 (formerly 13064 of Wits. Regiment which I assume is Wiltshire?)...born in Silvertown he landed at Suvla Bay on 7 Aug 1915 and died the very next day aged 20...what a shame.  Apparently his younger brother died in Gallipoli as well in the same year, but he lied about his age to join.  Havent found him yet though.  Thanks for replying.

Battalion move up as Brigade reserve to occupy line of trenches running roughly 91-D-8 to 104-T-7, vacated by the 11trh Division when they advanced. Left Lala Baba at 16.30. Casualties during the advance, officers nil, other ranks 41.

This is the entry from 6RDF War Diary They were in area of Chocolate Hill at Gallipoli think they were shelled.

Thanks for that info Ady.  It's very interesting.  Ironically I was in Gallipoli a couple of years ago with my partner.  We attended the ANZAC Day memorial service (as part of a tour and just out of interest in the history of it all)....we didn't know about Patrick and John then obviously, but I wish we had.  Thanks again.
