My contact was through an email contact on the mets site. Perhaps who ever it was didn't want to give me any information as had better things to do.
I have been researching the Aviss family tree and an elderly surviving member aged 80 remembers an escapade involving her now deceased uncles many years ago and wants to find out some more, she was a little girl at the time and only remembers little bits.
I have now worked out the date to have been between 1934 - 1944 and probably around the Hackney / Homerton area.
Ideally I would like to find the newspaper with the article about it.
It involved two brothers Frederick Aviss and Harold Aviss (both deceased) and it was said they forged coins. They were caught and both served six years each. Family say the machine used was in the crime museum, but the met contact said this is not so.
I really need to find time to get and research old newspapers but this is quite difficult time wise. Will do eventually tho. Thanks Sue
