RSM Ward C.C.S. Dick Deuce, Edinburgh
« on: Today at 06:34:07 »
Hello,
I have a postcard from Regimental Sergeant Major Ward (Great Grandfather) who served with the Royal Scots Fusiliers, with a return address of :-

RSM Ward
C.C.S. Dick Deuce, Edinburgh

I was wondering if anyone would know what C.C.S would mean? Perhaps Dick Deuce is the name of a camp? The postcard would have been sent between 1930 and 1950.
Thanks,
Neil

In army terms CCS would normally mean Casualty Clearing Station, but as to the rest, I can't offer anything.
A.
Second thoughts - Dick = Richard, Deuce = two.  How about a Richard II connection?  Far-fetched, but any better offers???

There was an Army Hospital in Edinburgh Castle up to 1950.
In Edinburgh you also get ' The Dick Vet School' and 'Dick Place' a street - both  named after William Dick an 18th century veterinarian.
