Plymouth or Plymstock baptism - HUGILL
« on: Thursday 10 February 11 22:16 GMT (UK) »
Hello

I am looking for the baptism of Richard Hugill.  He married Jane Adams 30 April 1787 at Plymouth Charles.

I know that a Richard Hugill married Elizabeth Watson in Plymstock 31 July 1762 and George Hugill married Ann Nynn 8 Jan 1766 at St Andrew, Plymouth.

I am thinking that Richard might be a son from one of those marriages.

Thank you in advance.

Ravelin.

Richard & Jane baptised their children at Plymouth St Andrew, as did George & Ann starting in 1768, but no baptism for Richard. Try contacting the OPC for Plymstock who offers free lookups - go to http://genuki.cs.ncl.ac.uk/DEV/Plymstock/index.html and scroll down to genealogy for the link.

Hello DOB7

Thank you for doing this look up for me and providing me with that link. I shall contact the Plymstock OPC.

I have the names and baptism dates of Richard & Jane's children up to William Cole Hugill b1796. The next child i have is a Richard baptised 1807 then Joseph 1813. There is a big gap between William and Richard. Did they have any more children ?

Can you please give me the children's names and baptism dates of George and Ann as i feel they must be related to my Richard.

Thanks.

Ravelin

Baptised to George & Ann at PSA:
21 Dec 1768 George
7 Sep 1770 George Cowlings
9 Dec 1772 William

As to children between 1798 and 1813 - PSA registers for that period are not all available due to WWII. :-(

Hello D0B7

Thank you for giving me those Hugill baptism details.

A shame that the PSA Registers are not all available for that period as it seems likely that there were more children born between William & Richard.

Hello DOB7

Have you been able to find out who your Great Great Grandmothers parents were via other records.

Oh absolutl;y - I have her chapter and verse and the baptisms of most of her siblings. She very conveniently lived with her parents in 2 censuses and siblings in another. I just can't locate her baptism in spite of extensive searching of PRs at the PWDRO. :-(

Hello D0B7

It is fortunate that she is living with her parents and siblings on the census then.

Following on from the link you gave me i came across the OPC website for Plymouth (Devon) and Surrounding Parishes. It has Richard Augill (not Hugill) marrying Elizabeth Watson in Plymstock. There are 6 baptisms there that could be their children. Three are named Augill and three are named Hugill. One of them says that a Richard Augill was baptised between 1760-69. This has to be my Richard.
