"Royal Family" Completed Thank you
« on: Monday 14 February 11 10:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help with a full transcript or the original passenger list for the ship "Royal Family" that arrived in Vic in APRIL 1864 (unassisted immigration)

(Googling "Royal Family" doesn't help one little bit  ;D )

Thanks

Di

Edit to fix incorrect month of arrival. It should be APRIL, not JAN as originally specified.  :-[

Hi Lady Di,

I cannot see any arrivals in Jan 1864, but there's three arriving in Aug 1863

Do you want a PM with their names and the index ref?

Cheers,  JM

Oh sorry JM - that's supposed to be arrival in APRIL 1864  ::)
(Liverpool UK to Melbourne)

I found a transcript of passengers on prov.vic but I'm hoping for more information. I don't even know if the original shows anything useful but was rather keeping fingers crossed  :-\

Thanks
(I'll amend the month on my original post)

Hi Lady Di,

Scant pickings online, but I think there were some 238 immigrants on that voyage ...  mostly family groups ... perhaps if you PM me the surname.  Also, if you use the search engine on PROV, and enter only the ship's name and the month, year AND NO surnames, you can get the scant details of all the passengers.  Perhaps one of those surnames may have been followed up on RChat and thus better details about the voyage etc have already been found .... (Outside the square wishful thinking on my part)

Also, from the digitised newspapers, only a couple of cuttings so far (its late at night here, will try again tomorrow)

Cheers,  JM

Thanks for the newspaper articles JM.

I've also found very little info on line about this ship and the passengers which is a bit frustraing.

Hopefully someone will have access to the original passenger details

Fingers crossed.

Di

Hi Janet,

Thanks for your offer. I'll PM my email address as I'd love a pic of the ship too.

Cheers

I just wanted to finalise this thread with a massive big thank you to everyone who has helped behind the scenes, particularly majm, Merlin and Janet666.

I have had an enormous amount of information sent to me and it'll take me ages to colate it all into something useful. I have received answers to questions I didn't even think of asking  ;D

Typical Rootschatters - a miracle a day!!
You really are a special group of people.

Thank you everyone

Di
