Constance Annie Whittaker Dean
« on: Tuesday 15 February 11 14:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi

The above lady was a nurse who died of the flu at the Woburn Abbey War Hospital in early December, 1918. I believe that she had emugrated to Napier, NZ at some time and come back during the war. The North Bucks Times states that her Father and Sister attended the funeral, does anyone know if the family were from the Woburn area and if she is buried in Woburn?

regards

IanC

There is a Constance Annie Dean on the electoral roll for Napier district, Hawkes Bay 1905/6 and 1911

I can't see a birth for her in England, or find her on censuses at the moment - could she have been born in New Zealand?

Or perhaps Canada, which is where John Holmes Dean appears to have hailed from?

Edited: oops, probably not Canada as JHD appears to have married Miss Whittaker in NZ...

Hi Ian
You asked about the  above lady about 9 years ago ( just seen your post). If you are still interested - She was definitely born in New Zealand in 1881, most likely in Wellington. I am about to put her parents' and brother's memorials up in Findagrave for Old Napier Cemetery (NZ). Father John Holmes Dean 1857 - 1944, mother Constance Mary nee Whittaker 1858 - 1913

Hi SA
You don't happen to have a photograph of her do you?  The local history group in Woburn are looking for one.
Researching Woburn Sands (was Hogsty End), Wavendon, Aspley Heath and Walton.
