TINK family , South Petherwin , Cornwall.
« on: Thursday 17 February 11 07:22 GMT (UK) »
Richard Tink was born circa 1826 at South Petherwin,Cornwall.
Prior to him emigrating to South Australia,he was described as a farm servant.
He emigrated to South Australia in 1851 on the sailing ship " Prince Regent", date of arrival in Australia presently unknown.
He died at Maryborough, the colony of Victoria  aged 62 on 24th July 1887.
Richard Tink married Mary Hunt in South Australia at Trinity Church,Adelaide on 19th October, 1853.One of Richard Tink's daughters is my Gt. Grandmother. Her name is Annie Louise Tink, born ,( possibly at Almherst,Victoria) ,and the year was 1863.
She died at Middle Park,Melbourne on July 6th 1951,aged 87.
I am trying to trace the South Petherwin , Cornwall Tinks.
Any assistance given is very much appreciated.
Thank you !

Hello, just a quick note - you may want to re-word your 'request' for help, as I had a post moved from here just for saying I had traced my relatives back to a certain place to c.1750 but was wondering if anyone had traced theirs elsewhere... might be worth a quick edit :)

I had a look at the shipping news for the Prince regent, I haven't found it going to Australia, but I have found it going between Hull, Quebec, Portsmouth anf Lisbon in nearly every month except April - May and September, so it was probably one of these three months :)

Have you tried the Cornwall OPC?
I think this is Richard's birth here: http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/search-database/baptisms/index.php?year_from=1820&year_to=1830&parish=&forename1=richard&surname1=tink&forename2=forename&forename3=forename&t=baptisms&bf=Search

Lewannick is 3 miles from south Petherwin.
I would then search for the marriage of his parents and work your way back :)

I hope I've helped! Tink is such a cute surname, I have one in my tree I think but it's much later and further south...

Just for good measure the parents marriage - note the wife's residence is given as 'sojourner' - brilliant! :)

I agree Tink is a really cute name isn't it.  Almost as good as my long time favourite Button  ;D

I can see him in 1841 South P but he doesn't seem to be with any other Tinks.
