can someone help date this picture please?
« on: Friday 18 February 11 22:41 GMT (UK) »
Apparently it was used on a chocolate box. It might possibly be linked to Whitaker's chocolates but they have not replied to my emails sadly. She was in Yorkshire but I dont know her name im afraid. Id love to find out if she really was on a chocolate box!

h e kiesel appears to be the photographer and googling him he appears to be active around the early 1900s does this sound about right?

thank you! she looks a lot better!

do you think with the photographer being german and no family german link that we might have been misinformed? we have the original photgraph but that doesnt mean anything does it!

Hi Shanan :)

From the looks of it this is a stock photo that was sold as a collectable...does it have a postcard back?  I've got loads of beautiful winsome ladies in my family collection and a lot of them seem to have been printed in Germany and France - unfortunately none of them related to me!  ;D

Cheers
Prue

this is who she is:

Margaret Mabel MORCOMBE was born Bet Apr - Jun 1891 in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales. Parents: Samuel Sparrow MORCOMBE and Hepsibah (Hephzibah) Sarah EASTERBROOK.

Spouse: Clement WHITAKER. Clement WHITAKER and Margaret Mabel MORCOMBE were married Bet Jan - Mar 1914 in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales.

She is definitely a relative, and we have other non professional photographs of her. The print this image was scanned from is made on card, not on a photo and stuck on card but the actual image is on the card iykwim

can anyone help me research this? thanks

The pose, the neckline and especially the look around the eyes reminds me of the "femme fatale" look of the silent film stars around 1920ish :)

I tried running Vintage Chocolate Box Whittaker's and combinations of the words through Google Images, but all I came up with was this thread :P :)

My first thought was WW1 + & a stock photo.
An earlier one would have her dressed in the flounces & flowers
favoured by the early actresses.
I can't see a company putting this on a chocolate box in the early 1900's.
