Help needed please
« on: Saturday 19 February 11 12:48 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace the parents of Frederick Clark born 1914 at Ladywood.

I have his birth certificate and it states his father was Charles Clark a Vice Hand and his mother Elizabeth Clark formerly Hooper.

I can not trace a marriage and don't believe that they did marry -in later life
Frederick called himself Frederick Hooper and that is the name he married in
and the surname of his children born in the 1940's

Would Elizabeth have been allowed to register the birth of Frederick without providing evidence that she was Mrs Clark -and in later years how could Frederick have called himself Hooper when his birth certificate says Clark.

Frederick was born at King Edwards Road on the 20th October, and according to his daughter (now deceased) he had siblings called Hilda,Leslie and Jack
whom she believed were older than Frederick. Is there any way  on the 1911 census I can input those names to see if they are together with their mother Elizabeth. Would be so glad of any help

Hello Brian
I can't see any children other than Frederick to this couple post 1911 & there isn't an Elizabeth with the 3 other children in 1911 in Warks.
On the face of it,it looks like Charles & Elizabeth were co-habiting & Charles may have deserted the family hence Frederick reverting to his mothers name. There may be other explanations though.
I put a combination of the names Elizabeth,Leslie,Jack & Hilda into 1911 using the "others in the household" box.eg.Hilda Clark with Leslie Clark.
Although there's a couple of hits there aren't any with them together that I can see.
