GUNN family of "COGILL"

I am in New Zealand and am researching the Gunn family of Great Dunmow, Essex, for a friend and find that two of them were christened in "Cogill" Caithness.
For a start I cannot find any place in the atlas named Cogill or Coghill - it may have been the name of a house.
There is John Gunn born/baptised in 1672. On the LDS site there he is on Disc 39 on the Pedigree Resource File recorded as being born in Cogill. He is also recorded in Little Easton in Essex.
His son is also recorded as being baptised on 11th November 1698 in the same place of Cogill.
He is also recorded in Essex in Great Dunmow.
Can anyone shed any light on this Gunn family which I know is a very Scottish name.

There is a Coghill Loch and Coghill Burn in Caithness, both not far from Scrabster.  There is a  building named Coghill marked on the 1872 OS map.  It was supposed to be a ruin but by 1877 the word ruin has disappeared.  There now appears to be a building very close to the site called Nell's Cottage (absolutely nothing to do with me!)

Many thanks for your reply - it is interesting to know that a place called Coghill actually did exist.
As for whether the Gunn family from Essex had roots there originally could be hard to discover but at least I know it now did exist.
I looked at it on the atlas and it is extremely far north.

There is a Coghill Street in Whitianga in NZ but I was unable to find out any information about while I was there
