Hi Leonie

I did not find any children recorded in SA for George JERVIS and Fanny nee Hodgson.

I think these JARVIS deaths are the same couple.

Fanny JARVIS aged 53y died 19 Oct 1878, wife of George JARVIS
Residence and Death Place was near Oakbank
Nai/ Book 90 /Page 314
South Australian Register  - Wednesday 23 October 1878
near Oakbank, Fanny, the wife of George Jarvis, aged 53. A colonist of 39 years

George JARVIS of Onkaparinga aged 74y died 26 Apr 1883 in hospital at Goodwood
Ade / Book 127 / Page 340
South Australian Register - Monday 28 May 1883
Re George JARVIS late of near Oakbank, a gardener

Having death dates means a search on TROVE can be filtered down to the year and month with fewer articles to look through!

Thanks Essie
I went to the library yesterday to look up the birth deaths and marriages of all the HODGSONs in South Australia.
Didn't look under the name JARVIS ::)
I will now mark this as topic COMPLETED.
Cheers Leonie

Help Please
I am trying to sort out my GGreat Granmothers, Hannah NATT nee HODGSON  family.
NATT Charles, 20, married HODGSON Ann, 19, on 1854-01-31 at St James Church, Blakiston. I have all the info on the NATT family it is the HODGSON side I am looking for.
Form her Obituary 1925 she is reported to have arrived in 1838 on the "Thomas Harrison" and was born in Cumberland.
Searching the Bound for South Australia shipping lists the "Thomas Harrison" arrived 1839 with the HODGSON family shown as Joseph and wife Mary Ann BURDEN? and 5 children.
I found these children born in South Australia
HODGSON Jane born 1844-12-10 at [Albert Town?] (Ade), father HODGSON Joseph, mother BURDEN Mary Ann
HODGSON Catherine born 1846-05-17 at Albert Town, father HODGSON Joseph, mother BURDEN Mary Ann
HODGSON Catherine born 1847-10-11 at Pt Adelaide, father HODGSON Joseph, mother BURDEN Mary Ann
HODGSON Charles born 1847-10-11 at Pt Adelaide, father HODGSON Joseph, mother BURDEN Mary Ann
HODGSON William born 1849-07-27 at Albert Town, father HODGSON Joseph, mother BURDEN Mary Ann
HODGSON Edward born 1852-03-28 at (Ade), father HODGSON Joseph, mother BURDEN Mary Ann
I find it strange that from 1839 to 1844 no children are  born to Joseph and Mary Ann so there could be more.
I am trying to find out the names of the 4 other children who arrived in 1839 and what happened to them as well as any info about the children born to Joseph and Mary Ann in South Australia.
Thanks  Leonie

Hello Leonie, I believe I can give you information on Joseph Hodgson, borm 1785, Married Mary-Ann BURDEN. They had 2 children: Marie Anne HODGSON 1841-?   and William HODGSON 1849-1920.

William Hodgson, born July 27, 1849 in Alberton, NSW, Australia. William eventually moved to New Caledonia's East coast village of Canala (I believe he came as a missionary) and married Christina WISHART,  at Canala, N-C on July 9,1874. They had 5 daughters and a still-born son:

-  Maude Eléonore HODGSON 1875-??
-  Jessie Gertrude HODGSON 1879-1912
-  Ada Eléonore HODGSON 1882-1923
-  Ethel May HODGSON 1884-1886
Claire Hilda HODGSON 1886-1957 (my GRAND-MOTHER)
-  Wilfred HODGSON 1889-1889

Claire Hilda Hodgson, their 5th child  born at Nakety, Canala in New Caledonia, eventually married a Frenchman by the name of Emile Marius Basile SOLIER at Canala on 11 November 1908 and they later moved to the capital city, Noumea.

THREE children were born:
-  Adèle Aimée Marie Christina SOLIER 1910-1968
Elie Emile William Auguste SOLIER , Decorated with the Légion d'Honneur , the "Ordre National    du Mérite" and Nichan-El-Anouar, 1914-1984  MY FATHER
-  Emile Elliot Charles Douglas SOLIER (Deceased)

Claire Hodgson-Solier died in Noumea, February 19, 1957, exactly one month before I was born. That is why my 2nd given name is Claire. My name is Elyette Solier-Maillet (born March 19, 1957) and I am the youngest of 4 children . My sister Josyane passed away in 1996 at age 47. She is survived by 2 older brothers Eric born 1938 and Jean-Marc, born 1944.

We all have children and grandchildren. I have 3 girls and a boy and 7 grandchildren. My brothers and I live in New Caledonia. Children are scattered throughout the world: New Caledonia, France, Australia (My sister's 3 children chose to live in Sydney) and the USA where my 3 girls live with our 7 grandchildren.

I am eager to meet all my long lost cousins wherever they may be across the world.  Please do not hesitate to contact me. I also have family on my mother's side in the U.K. and in Australia.
