Hi Robert,

What does the 1911 census say about Robert's birth place?  :)

In the 1911 Census it  shows his birthplace as Battersea 1881

l also think he had 2 sisters and a brother (fred)?

Hi Phil, as Northampton has for a long time been associated with the shoe trade, was this the occupation of your Robert, as their is a Robert Leach aged 21 boarding with the Ette family in Northampton, on the 1901 Census occ Shoe Laster?

So he's married to an Elizabeth- do you know her maiden name?

Can't see a circa 1904 marriage that fits?

Are his parents Robert and Susan and he's with them age 1 in Battersea in 1881?

If so in 1891 Susan is still in Battersea but a widow- now aged 40 with 2 of her children Susan 16 and Henry 14.

RG12/ 421 folio 45 page 32

So it's quite likely that they sent Robert away to learn a trade(although Macclesfield was known for it's silk trade not boot n shoe  ;D )

Hi Carol, Keyboard86 and Tati

l know that he was married to (annie) elizabeth taylor her family was all in the same house in northampton in 1911

l think his father was also  robert and mary (but l might be wrong ) if it is a susan then l might have been going down the wrong track and you might be right that he was sent elsewhere and to macclesfield of all places (sorry if you live in Macclesfield)

Thanks for the work so far
