FISHLOCK and SNELL families
« on: Tuesday 19 April 05 23:43 BST (UK) »
Thomas Fishlock was born about 1788 in East Kennet and died about 1851 in Marshfield, Gloucestershire.   In between times he married Sarah Snell, born about 1787 in Castle Coombe, and fathered 6 children all born in Marshfield.
I would appreciate any information on the Wiltshire families and/or forebears of Thomas Fishlock and Sarah Snell.   Were they really Moonrakers!
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave!

The International Genealogical Index shows that a Sarah Snell
was christened on 2nd Nov 1783 at Castlecomb, Wilts the daughter
of Francis Snell and Hannah.

Francis Snell married Hannah Brown on 11th October 1778 at
Corsham, Wilts and, in addition to Sarah, the IGI shows that they
had 2 other children:

Hester         Christened on 7th Aug 1785 at Castlecomb
Hannah       Christened on17th Feb 1788 at Castlecomb

Hope this is the family you are looking for.

Hi
I noticed these a few minutes ago on you post on Hilperton gravestones and was wondering about them!!!
It's VERY tempting as I do have a George Fishlock who married Jane?
1881 census indicates my George was born Marshfield, Glos abt 1826 and Jane also Marshfield abt 1823.   The census does not show them having a 13 year old daughter although she could have been away visiting.
Many thanks, cheers Dave

Just checked 1881 census again and there is only 1 George and Jane Fishlock listed - no Kate.
Looks like it's probably them.   Oops can't do my sums - the gravestone puts Jane's birth at abt 1844 not 24  ::)
Thanks again, Dave
