A Dictionary of Scottish Emigrants to Canada COMPLETED
« on: Friday 04 March 11 02:00 GMT (UK) »
I have the source book name, but don't know what I have to do to access it. Does anyone know?

I'm interested in Mary MacDonald arriving PEI in 1803. While Mary is indicated as the primary immigrant (not sure what that means) in the brief transcript noted below at source (page 206) I'd love to know if there are any other details provided. Was she travelling with other family? Where did she leave from? What was her destination in PEI? Did she have a sponsor? What was her occupation? Is there anyting else that might give me a lead as to parentage?

I used interlibrary loan to have this book brought into my local library.  I found it a much easier and cheaper alternative than purchasing it or driving the distance to the library that held a copy of it.

TX Debbie. Great idea. As you've seen it, do you know if it contains the type of info I'm looking for? Cheers, Jan

I think the information for each person varies.  What it contained for my husband's ancestor seemed to be taken from the 1851 Canadian census as it included the Canadian born children - no reference to ship - plus the mistake of the wife's remarriage to another person in Canada.

Hi,

If you can't get the book, I can have a look for you on Tuesday.  My library has it (all 4 volumes).

TX very much for the offer of a look-up. I have since detected an error in my research which has enabled me to determine that Mary MacDonald arrived in PEI in 1790 aboard the Queen (not 1803 as I first thought). She was travelling with her father, Alexander MacDonald and mother Mary MacIntyre.

I greatly appreciate the look-up offer though. TX again.
