I know, that confused me with the marriage being in Bangor???, I will try and clear the waters working backwards and trying to find her parents, I presume it must be Albert as the other girls would have been too young, wil carry on.

Thank you for all your replies.

I meant Alfred, just found an Alfred Whitbread Tranter married to either to Sarah Powers or Louisa Augusta Thompson - St. Geo East March 1865, so with Kate Whitbread Tranter being born 1866 USA (although I can't find any births as of yet, they must have left for America pretty quickly.

Later census (after she married) states she was born in London or in New York, USA!!! Her middle name is Whitbread married name Pellowe.

Thanks

after marriage
1891 Kate (katie) gives her p.o.b. as Long Island New York
1901 it looks as if she has given her p.o.b. as London -but all the places of birth are "one out" - so Katie's p.o.b. is at the side of her son's name.

So 1901 Katie's p.o.b. -if it was entered in correct place - is Log Harbour New York

so if you are looking for a birth reg I think New York is the place to search

The 1871 census shows Alfred & Sarah:
Wanstead RG10/16?5 Folio 65 page 17 Schedule 80; Wellesley Rd.
Alfred TRANTER Head Marr 31 Secritary (sic) b. Biggleswade, Beds
Sarah TRANTER Wife Marr 32 b. Gerlford (?), Beds
Elizabeth BARRETT Serv 20 b. Middx.

If you obtain Kate's marriage certificate to Walter PELLOWE it will confirm her father's name & occupation.

Ah, thanks for clearing up the 1901 census, was a bit confused about that one so she was definately born in New York, have had a look but can't find anything will carry on the search.  Thank you also for the 1871 census for Alfred, I must admit I am just presuming that he is the father, so I will have to get hold of the marriage certificate to confirm it.

Thanks all
