Lizzie Murphy b.1881
« on: Saturday 05 March 11 19:35 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the above person and would be grateful if any one could help.

Lizzie(Elizabeth) as she was known was born in 1881 I believe in  Co. Carlow

Her parents were Patrick Murphy b. about 1841 and Ellen Byrne born about 1844;

It is rumoured that Lizzie was part of a travelling circus and that is  how she ended up in Ballinrobe, where she met my grandad.

Can anyone help me????

You can search the Civil BMD for possible births for Lizzie on familysearch, but would have to purchase the certs to confirm the parents names. Murphy is a very common surname so there could be quite a number of Elizabeth/Lizzie births around the right time. It might help narrow your search if you had any clues as to which part of Co. Carlow your Murphy family lived.

If her father was still alive in 1901 it may be possible to find him on the census for that year... providing he has a fairly distinctive occupation (there could be dozens of farmers and labourers with the name Patrick Murphy).
