Elizabeth MEHOLE - born circa 1801
« on: Monday 07 March 11 13:44 GMT (UK) »
When looking through the 1871 census, I found that my great x3 grandfather was living with this woman who was listed as his grandmother in Launceston, Cornwall.  I found her also in the 1851 census.  The only other piece of information I have about her is the death index.

How do I go about finding more?  I live in Canada and money is an issue.  I did buy one month to Ancestry.ca.

I would appreciate any advice.

Hi Cheri,

I'm thinking that Elizabeth could be the remarried paternal grandmother.

Have a search here for an Elizabeth Chambers marriage
http://www.cornwall-opc-database.org/searchdb.php?dbname=marriages

You'll find a marriage Thomas Meole / Elizabeth Chambers in 1844, with Elizabeth a widowed confectioner (father's name Joseph Isbel).

There's a likely christening for Samuel on the Cornwall OPC site as well - full name Samuel Isbell Chambers. Dad Richard a fish monger, but mother is shown as Mary when we were expecting an Elizabeth ...

It's only a guess but just about every person in the Chambers family for about 3 generations went by their second name (i.e. Annie Violet was known as Violet), so perhaps her name is Mary Elizabeth or Elizabeth Mary.

In any case, I thank you very much.  You've given me something to go on.
