William Henry HARROP (m. Jun 1921 to Elsie WILLIAMS)

Hello Everyone,

I am looking for siblings or ancestors of William Henry HARROP.  I have very little information to go on except he married Elsie WILLIAMS in Jun 1921 registered in Charlton, Lancashire, England.  They had 2 children Phillip in 1921 and Ronald in 1927, and Elsie passed away in 1932.  William then remarried in 1944 to Ruth GRINDROD.

I am looking for siblings or ancestors of William.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There are a great many William Henry Harrop births on freebmd - including a couple in Chorlton

You will need to buy a copy of one of his marriage certs to establish his fathers name

I notice the second marriage was in Yorkshire but there is no death recorded in Yorkshire for him

I have no information of where he died, but I believe he may have lived in Bury.  Sorry, I have no more information than that.

I had hoped to be able to find his death and establish his age when he died which would have helped with a birthyear

There is a William H Harrop death in 1968 in Ashton aged 74 which gives the same birthyear as Elsie.  As she also died in Ashton - it's a possibility

There is this birth but there is also one in the Hayfield RD

Have a look on the free 1901 PRO index for William Harrop's born 1893-1895 - there are far too many to determine the right entry so you need that marriage cert

Thanks for this and yes  the marriage certificate would be very handy, but I thought I would try here first.

There is no William Henry Harrop death in Lancashire between 1974-1978

There is a William Henry Harrop death in Ashton in 1972 but he was only born in 1914 so could not have married in 1921

Aged 23 at time of marriage (14 May 1921) so born circa 1898 - aged about 78 in 1976
