Mary Ann Jacob
« on: Wednesday 09 March 11 13:45 GMT (UK) »
Hello,

im trying to find out about Mary Ann Jacob born c1838 in Boughton under Blean or Faversham.I believe she was one of my paternal 3xgreat grandmothers.

She is on the 1851 with her family:class HO107 piece1626 folio415 p15.

Shes on the 1861 with my 3xgreat grandfather Jesse Coppins born 1832 Faversham with 5 children.No marriage ever found.Thomas born 1854 is my gg grandfather.
class RG9 piece526 folio172 p35.

On 1871 she has 3 more children.

There is a death for a Jesse Coppins in Faversham march quart 1875 which i think is him,although the birth is slightly out.

I cant find any trace of Mary Ann on 1881.

The 1891 shows this:

Thomas Jacobs born 1854 Faversham(my gg grandfather)
Mary Ann
Emma J 1881
Thomas W 1882(great grandfather)
William J 1884
Albert E 1886
Sarah A 1888

next to them Emma J Mannering(Jacob) born 1859 Boughton(gg grandfathers sister,who married Thomas Mannering dec quart 1882 Faversham)

then Mary Ann Jacob born 1834 Faversham mother single.

As Mary Ann never married Jesse Coppins,this would figure.But where was she in 1881?The only death i can find for a Mary Ann Jacob or Coppins is Faversham 1885 Mary Ann Jacob,which would be impossible.

Her childrens births were registered thus:

Ellen Harriet Jacob 1851 Fav.
Thomas Jesse Jacob 1854 Fav
Frederick not found.
Emma Jane Coppins 1859 Fav(married using Jacobs)
Sarah A Coppens 1861 Fav.
William not sure
Alice M A coppins 1866 Fav
James Edward Coppins 1870 Fav or James Jacob 1871 Fav.

I have a lot of questions surrounding the family which i need to try and answer,but for now what i need to find is:

Mary Ann on 1881

Her death.

If anyone can help id be really grateful.

Many thanks.

Nel.

Hello Wozzle,

many thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately thats not her.Incredibly,theres another Mary Jacob born same place at about same time,whose father is also James:

1851

James Jacob born 1798 Boughton.
Catherine born 1800 boughton
Esther born 1831
Mary born 1837

class HO107 piece1626 folio40 p15

1861

add Ann born 1828 Boughton

class RG9 piece525 folio30 p1

1871

Mary born 1835 Boughton working as servant in Croydon.

class RG10 piece847 folio53 p25

I think the 1885 death in Faversham is probably her.

Its very frustrating.I cant see anything on 1881 that looks like mine.Ive even tried initials for institutions,but cant see anything.And no death or late re-marriage after 1891 that i can see.
Any further help greatly appreciated,

Nel.

Ive found her on 1881:

Mary Ann Coppins born 1836 Boushton

class RG11 piece969 folio88 p3

I still cant find a death or remarriage after 1891 that fits under Jacob/s or Coppins though.If anyone can help with that id be very grateful.

thanks,

Nel.

Hello.

Whilst I'm doing this part of my family,i thought it might be worth re posting this,as its still unsolved.She is my 3xg grandmother,and there is a death registered in Faversham in 1885 which I thought was her,but the 1891 census clearly shows she is still part of her daughters household.So unless they had her embalmed,and stuck her in the corner on a chair,im still trying to find out what happened to her.Please can anyone help?

Many thanks.

Nel.
