Can anyone help please?  John Laidlaw married Janet Brockie in Melrose on 30 May 1834, and I would like to find out about both their parents and any details which may be on the appropriate censuses.

There are a few different John Laidlaws with a wife named Janet on all the census years.

What is the name of their child your descendant?

There was a John Laidlaw  born  Melrose 6th Sep.1815.

Father John Laidlaw  mother Beatrix.

Thank you for that.  John and Janet Laidlaw's daughter was called Jane, and she was born around 1848.
