William Cornett

My great grandfather William Cornett  (Cornet) was a sea -going engineer and family history says he died at sea or in San Francisco somewhere around 1905.  He lived at 19 Chester Terrace in Sunderland.  His widow and 3 young daughters migrated to Canada around 1910.  I am trying to find any info about him.  I only have 1 photo and no obituary etc.  Any help out there?

Only info I have is about 1862-63   born in Newcastle-on tyne  Father Francis

There is a possible entry for him on the 1881 census which you can access through the IGI site for free -http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Search/frameset_search.asp  .
If you have a subscription to another paid genealogy site, there is someone else researching this family.

I agree but on my grannies birth certificate it states he was a sea going engineer.  All I know is the family legends which of course might not be true.  I haven't been able to find anything about him and all sources of info here in Canada ended with the deaths of his daughters,  many years ago.  All I have is a few old pictures and my Granny's birth certificate.  I'll just keep plugging away and maybe I'll get lucky.  Thanks for your comment.

Nothing is impossible Barry, more so in genealogy!

If i've found the right wife for William she's living with her mother in 1901, her occupation is given as (husband at sea).

William's wife is named Jane (Simpson)- 3 daughters Dora, Nellie & Violet
