« on: Sunday 13 March 11 18:10 GMT (UK) »
In 1939 Helen GLASS widow of Patrick Chalmers PIGGOT or PIGGOTT
died at Armadale, Kingston, District of Garmouth

She was 84 years old, the daughter of Andrew Hutton GLASS
and Helen BURNESS of Dundee.  Married there in 1879, age 25

The Informant was a Son, Herbert PIGGOTT
of 112 Dunlop Street, Greenock.

All of the above information is from Scotland's People.

Does anyone know where Armadale is? I did not find it on a street map so maybe a house?
does anyone know if there is a headstone in the local cemetery or churchyard?
Does anyone recognise the name? or have any information

Any information Gratefully received.

Hi angusg

There is a brief reference to Helen Glass/Piggott on http://libindx.moray.gov.uk/mainmenu.asp which includes simply a date of death and gravestone ref. Same gravestone reference for husband Patrick with a death date for him of Sept. 1937.

Armadale is probably the name of a house. I can see nowhere of that name locally. There is Armadale in Bathgate parish in the central belt and Armadale, a fishing village in Sutherland. The house may have had that name before your ancestor lived there, unless you can think of a family link with one of the two Armadales which might have led them to give it that name.

Graham.

I agree. It's almost certainly a house.

However it is either no longer there, or it has changed its name, or the occupants omitted to complete their electoral registration forms in 1991, because it isn't listed in the 1992/1993 register of electors, of which I happen to have a copy here.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

There is a gravestone (number 570) in ESSIL NEW graveyard for - Patrick Chalmers Piggott, Sep 1937; Helen Glass, Jun 1939; Herbert Piggott; 9 Feb 1963; Emma Guthrie, 10 Feb 1966.  This info was found on the Aberdeen and North East Scotland FHS website.

Essil is South of Garmouth on the minor road that runs parallel to the Spey

Don't know about Armadale in that area.
