elizabeth jenkins born in Chatham?
« on: Monday 14 March 11 21:37 GMT (UK) »
Help- I can't find this person but she married Charles May in Thurnby leicestershire sometime between 1851 and 1861. According to the census she was born in chatham, Kent and her father is Samuel. I can't find either her or her father's birth. Samuel's dates are 1800-1851 and I'm sure he was in the army but i'm drawing a complete blank. ???

If you believe the family to be C of E you may well find her baptism in the online parish registers for Chatham or Gillingham (maybe even Rochester) http://cityark.medway.gov.uk/

Why do you think her father was Samuel?  Is this from her marriage certificate?

need to trawl through the stuff at my mum's but am sure Samuel is father and he was a corporal. I went to Chatham quite a few years ago to the records office and drew a complete blank for both of them. thanks for your help. the census records are quite interesting but unfortunately 1841 already has her in leic's so i'm no better off. Any ideas as to Chatham i Kirk?

oh thank you - I had googled it and got nowhere. Asked my husband who's from Maidstone and he hadn't got a clue. I guess I need to see if I can find out what regiment Samuel was in in order to try to track down any more information on him
