1851 / 1861 Monmouthshire
« on: Thursday 21 April 05 13:39 BST (UK) »
If anyone has access to the 1851 or 1861 census for Monmouthshire then I'd really appreciate a look-up for:
George Cobner, born circa 1832 in Goytre
and his mother Charlotte Cobner, born 1792-6 ish
Mary Ann Williams, born circa 1837 in Llanarth (father William Williams)

I expect that the Cobners were in the Abergavenny Rural area (Goytre?), and that Mary Ann Williams could be in the Llangattock area

Regatds Julie

Hello Rhys - thanks for the information!

Do you have the 1861 census indexed?  If so. I'd really appreciate it if you could have a look for Mary Williams in the Llangattock, Nigh Usk area, as that is the location cited as residence on the couples marriage certificate in May 1861.  If it's not too much of a imposition could you provide me details of all Cobners in the Abergavenny area in 1861 - I know there are only a couple of families as I have tracked them all from 1871 until 1901.  I have Charlotte Cobner living with with her daughter and her family in 1871 (Ann Davies) so I guess she must be somewhere in 1861.

Once again, your help is much appreciated - I have the 1841 census myself but thanks for the offer.  Don't know if you can help with this but I have never been able to find George and Mary Cobner and their 3 children at the time in the 1871 census.

Regards Julie

Thanks again Rhys

I can't think why Charlotte doesn't appear - she 's maybe living with Ann Davies (approx 27)??

There should also be a William Cobner, aged approximately 37.

I'll keep searching - thanks for your help
Regards, Julie
