William McKell - Co. Armagh
« on: Thursday 17 March 11 01:40 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for relatives of my g-g grandfather, William McKell, born 1784. All the information I have is from his tombstone: "Scared to the memory of William McKell a native of County Armagh Ireland who died A.D. July 13th 1821 in the 37th year of his age." He is buried in Ebenezer Associate Reformed Presbyterian Churchyard cemetery (also known as Old Brick Church) in Jenkinsville, Fairfield County, South Carolina.

William McKell married Elizabeth "Betsy" Bell (1790-1842) in the Fairfield District, South Carolina, USA around 1812. They had three children: David (1813-1855), James (1815-1867) and Jane (1821-1880) - Jane was my great grandmother.

I notice there is no McKELL in the list of surnames; so any information or leads would be greatly appreciated. - George

Janet,

Many thanks for the McKell leads in Co. Armagh. I know that part of the fun of ancestry discovery is all the hints you get along the way; much like a scavenger hunt.
