WEHNER from Germany
« on: Sunday 20 March 11 23:59 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please help me find when the following family came to Canada. From the 1911 Canadian census it says the family arrived in 1905 but I would like to find the actual date and the ship's name.

Joseph Wehner born 1866, his wife Abalanie 1857, and their children: Oscar 1893, Joseph 1895, and Anna 1896

Thanks,
shearg

This could be them, The mother's age is out by 5 years but could still be her. Does the father Joseph, age 39, show up on any ship that same year?

Janinez,
Thank-you for the help but after looking at the orginal manifast of the SS Montreal I don't think  this is the right family. They had the father's name listed and it wasn't Joseph.

Looking at that manifest, I cannot make out the first name of the father, but his age is clearly 39. Perhaps the person who filled in the manifest got the name wrong. I think that this is indeed the family arriving in Canada.

The family appears to have settled eventually around Leroy, Saskatchewan. Joseph and Mrs. Joseph are buried in the St Patrick RC cemetery along with several children of their son Oscar. Younger Joseph enlists in the CEF during WW1 in 1918 giving his next of kin as Joseph, living in the St Gregor area, which is about 30k from Leroy.

Thanks for all the help in finding this family. They did settle in the Leroy area.
Can anyone explain to me what the following means:

N.A.T.C. Bonus Allowed

This was following all family members.
Thanks,

According to one source I have found NATC Bonus was "a payment to the North Atlantic Trading Company for each agriculturalist it directed to Canada"  Was the family farmers?  According to the Canadian Genealogy Center at Archives Canada the NATC was indeed the North Atlantic Trading Company.
