Owen family - Ralli 1901
« on: Wednesday 23 March 11 14:09 GMT (UK) »
Anyone researching or know anything about the Owen family who lived at a farm called Ralli in Llanberis 1901. The entry for A G Owen approx age 6 is my grandma who was called Annie. I would like to find out mainly if the lady called catherine owen is my great grandma or great great grandma - at 61 i would presume she was my great great grandma. The head of the family is David Owen who at 41 years of age i would think is my great grandad. Any help appreciated.   Sue

Does your connection with the farm go back further ?
I know of a chap in my own family, called the Rev W Ryle Davies (he died approx 1900), whose family came from the farm . His middle name was a corruption of the farm's name.
Owen , Parry , Pritchard, Foulkes  o Llanddeiniolen

Hi Sue,

of course, it is the wrong family!!

Your Annie is down as A.J. Owen

Right: Living at: Rallt, Llanberis

1901 Census:
David Owen,  head, b.1861, slate quarryman, Llanrug,
Catherine Owen, WIFE, b. 1840 Waefarn
Lizzie Owen, daughter b. 1886, Llanberis
Owen D Owen, son, b. 1885, slate quarryman, Llanberis
ANNIE J OWEN, daughter, b. 1894, Llanberis

Looks like for Catherine it might have been a second marriage?

Looking at the 1911 census  David Owen's birth date is down as 1844,

and Annie is Annie JANE Owen

Hi Huwcyn, dont think the owen family connection goes furthur back than the 1901 - they were not living there in 1891 according to that census.
