Hurley/McKenna Families from Athy
« on: Thursday 24 March 11 14:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I am looking to trace the Hurley and Mckenna families from 3 Canal View in Athy, Kildare, Ireland.

Anne Hurley 1910-1974 was my grandmother and she married Michael McKenna 1899-1956.  I understand that they are buried in the Old St Michael's cemetery, in a corner plot with a gravestone in the shape of an open book.

Their youngest son John (Jack) Mckenna could be buried in the same plot.  Could anyone take a photo of the gravestones for me please?

Both families are listed in the 1901 and 1911 census but it is understood that Anne's father was married twice.  No details of the first wife are know but her children are listed in the 1901 census.  Mary was Anne's natural mother and her fathers second wife.  In the 1911 census the children from the first marriage have disappeared.  All apart from Christopher Hurley who was lodging at 5 Canal View and was know as Christy.

If anyone has any information on any of these families I would be grateful.

Regards, Trish
