saw your posting on Rootschat.

I am also looking for information on my family (Barclay) to emigrated from Ayr Scotland to Argentina at the same time to build the railways.

Was wondering if you found any useful sources of information.

Hi Adrian

Sorry to say I've found absolutely nothing but I am in touch with the Argentinian branch of the Rayson clan. All I need now is to learn Spanish or should that be Portugese

Sorry I am unable to help

Happy hunting

Chris

We seem to be in a similar position. I too have made contact with the Argentina branch of my family. Luckily they speak English.

I know my family worked for the Central Argentine Railway. I have found out that the Society for Irish Latin American Studies www.irishargentine.org have a database of British & Irish employees of the Central Argentine Railway from 1870-1961. Unfortunately I have to join the society to get access. Once I have access, I will check for Rayson's and let you know what I find.

They speak Spanish in Argentina  (Portuguese in Brazil !)  ;D ;D

Have you seen this webpage:

Hi Chris

Have now gained access to the database of British & Irish employees of the Central Argentine Railway from 1870-1961.

Unfortunately no sign of a Rayson or a Barclay.

I'll keep searching and let you know if I find anything.
