Aston Union Workhouse
« on: Saturday 02 April 11 13:48 BST (UK) »
I have found a relative who was possibly in Aston Union Workhouse for the 1901 census and I was wondering if anyone could tell me whether it is possible to obtain any workhouse records anywhere.  A trip to Birmingham is out of the question, so online records preferably or maybe there are any potential lookups available?  Her name was Jane Hudson, b. c1827 in Lewes, Sussex.  Any info gratefully received!!

She definetly comes up as being in aston union workhouse in 1901. I don't know whether that will come under birmingham or warwickshire.  Birmingham central library which as a genealogy section may be able to help and a website.  Also workhouses .org. It also comes under erdington in those days. Sometimes nothing has survived of them or  they may just have meeting minutes of the poor law guardians. Stafford record office may be able to help you. They have a website and an on line catalogue.
