William Scarlet - teacher at Bordwell 1835
« on: Saturday 09 April 11 05:40 BST (UK) »
I have discovered in the "First Report of the Commissioners of Public Instruction, Ireland 1835" that the parish school at Boardwell (Bordwell)was run by William SCARLET, the parish clerk. I suspect that this is the same William SCARLET as my relative who appears in the 1841 census for Manchester, England as a 35 year old teacher. Although relationships are not given  in the 1841 census, I guess that other members of the household are his wife (Elza), 5 year old son (also William) and possibly his sister, 20 year old Jane. They were all born in Ireland. I am descended from Jane.
Can anyone tell me anything about William, the teacher at Bordwell in 1835? Any mention of the surname SCARLET (or SCARLETT) in the area could also be useful.
