Harwell parish register lookup (COMPLETED)
« on: Monday 11 April 11 18:16 BST (UK) »
My ancestor, Lydia Dix, was born in Harwell in about 1805. By 1827, she was married and living in London.

I'd be really grateful if anyone was able to look up her baptism for me.

Much thanks

Hi Decor,

There's no Lydia Dix baptised in the Harwell PRs (ex OFHS) that I have.
There are only two and they were bapt. in 1905 & 1910.

Do you have any other information that may highlight her
birth/bapt. area?

Thanks for the reply!
All I know is that according to census returns, she's was born in Harwell around 1805.
And the she married Charles Terry in Battersea in 1827, at which time she was a spinster.

i'll shall keep trying to find out more info.

Thanks again!

Still trying to found out more about Lydia.

In the 1851/1861/1871 censuses she's living in Paddington and has Harwell as her place of birth.
The 1841 census for Paddington has not survived. She died in 1877, aged 74.
I have the birth certificate for her daughter Eliza Terry, born in 1838 in Paddington. Mother: Lydia Terry, formerly Dix.
She married Charles Terry in 1827 in Battersea, and was a spinster.

There's no Lydia Dix baptism in Harwell. >: ???

Any suggestions from you wise people?

Hi,

The nearest I can find is  a Letitia DIXEY bapt. 14-2-1802 (born 1.2) the d/o John & Ann - Harwell.

That's a possibility. Thanks for looking, Alan.
I suppose there's no real way of knowing for sure. Unless John or Ann left a will mentioning their children.
Thanks again. I appreciate your help. ;D

Hi Decor,

Have you tried  FamilySearch.org ? The only Lydia Dix bapt. about 1805 is in Staffordshire - see here;
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NGCL-6Z3

Its highly unlikely, but perhaps Lydia thought she came from Harwell.
