Rennies (Raineys) Copelands
« on: Sunday 17 April 11 17:48 BST (UK) »
My G/Grandmothers family came from the Dailly area possibly by way of Ireland.  The family name I know was Rennie although that might have been Rainey at some time.  My G/G/Grandmothers name I believe was Margaret Copeland.  I also believe the family may have had connections in the Ardrossan area as well. G/Grandmother died in Carlisle.

Hello Yeldhammer,
The name Rainey is very popular in North Ayrshire
the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald has reams of
them in the BMD archive after the 1900 hundreds.
My grandmothers name was Jannet Copeland
Kennedy, her Grandmother Was Janet Copeland
I haven't traced the Copeland side back yet.
                                                                                              regards Brosie

 Hi
Good to hear from you.  I know very little about G/Grandmothers family apart from the fact her mother Margaret Copeland was born about 1811, my G/Grandmother was one of seven children I believe who married and lived in Carlisle after marrying James Mitchell from Fife.  I actually live in southern England and keep threatening to go to the Scottish Records Office to try and find out more but never seem to get there.  If there are that many Raineys it may be easier looking for the proverable needle.

Thanks for the interest though.
