First I should say that I do not know about this particular place, but I notice that your photo shows a Free Church. When the Free Church of Scotland was formed in 1843, new church buildings began to be erected, but it was quite usual for burials to continue in the original Church of Scotland graveyard. There was no problem with this and the people who had joined the Free Church would have had family graves in the old kirkyard. Some of the Free kirks did not have a graveyard.
