Hi
Like many people I am researching my family and have hit a brick wall.  Would anyone be able to look up the Llanelli 1861 Census for Robert McCulloch (McCullock).  He was the head of the household.  His wife was Elizabeth and the children, Robert John, James, Jessie, Ernest B, and maybe Elizabeth.  There may have been a cousin living with them too.
I would really appreciate any help.
Many thanks :)

Hiya on the Llanelli History site there is a bit on the Station Hotel it says that Robert Mc Culloch married Elizabeth Billing dau of John Billing of the Union Inn pub.John Billings died in 1865 followed by his eldest dau Mary (Higgs) who died in America in 1866,and following her fathers death Elizabth Mc Culloch nee Billings seems to have moved to St Columb Cornwall

So we need to look for Roberts marriage to Elizabth Billings

well, the only likely marriage is

Robert McCulloch march qtr 1851 Swansea vol 26 pg 641 with Elizabeth Joy or Elizabeth Butler on the same page

previous marriage
Betsey Billing march qtr 1843 Llanelly vol 26 pg 618 with William Joy on the same page

can't spot a local death for William Joy

this death reg for John?
John Billing march qtr 1854 Llanelly vol 11a pg 323

Hi, yes thank you I have the information about the Station Hotel, but did not know that Mary Ball died in 1866.  I have a copy of the marriage cert. for Robert & Elizabeth McCulloch and they were married in Jan 1867 in Swansea.  As far as I can tell the family then moved to LLanelli were they had 7 children and then they moved back to Swansea were they had another three children (can't imagine that!) - one of them being my grandfather Sydney McCulloch.  My problem is that out of 10 children I can only trace my direct family.  I was in Swansea for a day a few weeks ago and thought that I might find something interesting in Mumbles cemetery where my grandparents and great grandparents are buried, but not a sign of another McCulloch.  They seem to have disappeared!

On the same site Mary Ball (nee Griffiths) was Landlady of the Cornish Arms Kings square .Mary Griifiths b-1757 married William Ball and had a daughter Elizabeth Ball who married John Billing of St Columb Cornwall.

So above is your Elizabeths Parents and Grandparents, marriage of Elizabeths parents confirmed below

Just had another look the marriage between Robert and Elizabeth was 1851 not 1857.  Thanks for looking up the other information - not sure about the names.

Thanks, Welsh Lady, for the additional information.  That takes me back an additional generation.  However, I am still really stuck with the McCulloch's.
