Death: Keith Solomon

I am looking for an exact death date of a former footballer called Keith Anthony Solomon. He was born in Truro (Cornwall) on 19 March 1961 and went onto play as a keeper for Truro City FC, at some point in his career he moved to Sheffield United FC but in February 1981 he tragicaly died during a training session, what happened I don't know but would like to find out.

In a programme I have dated Sat 28 Feb 1981 (vs. Huddersfield) a small piece in the programme says that his funeral took place Thursday last, though never said where.

The piece said; 'All at Bramall Lane were shocked and saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Keith Solomon our young reserve goalkeeper last week.
     There is very little that words can say but I am sure that all our supporters will join the club in offering our condolences and sincerest sympathies to his family.
     The funeral took place on Thursday last and officials and players were in attendance.

At the moment that is all the information I have, but would like to know more if anyone can help; I am only persuming that he died on old Ball Inn Ground, Sheffield.

His death is registered in the first quarter of 1981 at Sheffield. The GRO reference is 3 1154. The certificate will provide the exact date of death and other details.

The Times reported on Friday, February 20th, 1981 that Keith collapsed and died after leaping for a high ball during a training session the day before. Therefore his death must have been Thursday, 19th February.

How dreadfully sad.

Hi,

Was just googling my brother Keith to see if there was anything around still about him. I came across this forum about him and I'm his Sister. Keith died on 19Th February 1981 at 12PM he was training with Martin Peters who was with him at the time of death. If you want to know any more about him then please let me know.
