Searching for parents of Caleb Emerson

I am searching for the parents of Caleb Emerson I do have information on him he was in the Royal Navy as a surgeon lived in Ireland Scotland and England where he died at the age of 38 in 1828 making him born 1787 -1789 place and parents unknown

IN the commercial directory 1820-1822 Caleb was operating a surgery in Dublin Ireland

If you not not already done so, you could try searching the parish records on www.irishgenealogy.ie - I had a quick look but didn't see any sign of him. (not all parishes would have records back as far as his baptism)

This holds many records for Dublin City.

There is a baptism record listed for a Michael Emerson with father Caleb :

I am looking for any info on caleb Emerson I have posted previously he was a dr in Dublin around 1820 marriage certificate says Dublin as residence what i am after is a birth place and parents any help would be appreciated caleb was born around 1784 he was 38 when he died in 1826 in Liverpool England and is buried in the same grave as two of his sons at Everton Lancashire

He may only have been working and living in Dublin, doesn't necessarily mean that's his place of birth.  The other problem is 'Dublin' is not very specific - can mean the city, suburbs or county, and there are quite a few separate parishes..

If Caleb was born and baptised somewhere outside Dublin city then you will need a fairly detailed location to start a search for a record as early as this. see :

The IrishGenealogy website mentioned earlier, covers most of the available Church of Ireland records for Dublin city (assuming that baptism for Michael was correct and CofI was the family denomination), but doesn't include very many for the county or suburbs. Transcripts for some of the parishes in Co. Dublin are available on the pay-website at RootsIreland.

Taking account of the Suffolk thread's suggestion that Michael could be a candidate for father's name, there is a Michael Emerson linen draper listed in Dublin 1801 here:

Thank you John this is another possible link my caleb that came to Australia in 1848 was listed as a draper in Melbourne in early1850 when he married his second wife so Michael could be his grandfather. Caleb (dr) married Elizabeth McKie in Scotland Wigtownshire in 1818 jan and had their first son later that year and in 1820-21 caleb (Australia bound one) was born in ) Dublin Ireland I will continue to look for a positive link
