Hello all,
I've come across something that I haven't before and it's puzzling me.. Can anyone help???
My friend who was born at the end of 1968 has asked me to "have a go" at his family history.. so I start at the beginning with his birth reg and have found two different ones both have the same volume number just different page numbers. He has an unusual surname and his first name is spelt differently to the norm and he has the good grace to have a middle name as well. He knows who his mum and dad are!! The registrations are both in the same office... without a shadow of a doubt it is him !! One of them is listed in the Jan quarter of 1969 and the other is in the April quarter of 1970. The only differences are the reg numbers, in the first reg mum has put her married name (when she didn't marry until Jan quarter 1970) and her birth fathers name( when her mum was never married to the chap as mothers maiden name and the later one has her actual maiden name.
Just to give you an idea of the reg numbers without actually putting them
the first has the normal 1 figure vol no followed by a letter then their is a normal 3 figure page number crossed out and replaced with with a 4 figure number with a forward slash and the letter S...
the second reg is just your common or garden 1 figure one letter for volume and 3 figures for the page number
Anyone any bright ideas as to why that might happen???
Sorry if it's all a bit confusing to read but obviously don't want to put any firm details on the site!!!
All the best
