I am descended from farmer Michael Callaghan & Mary Mahony from Inchigeelagh who had children from 1828-1845 John, Jacob, Michael, Daniel, Patrick, James, Margaret, Jeremiah & Denis. Denis was married in 1875 in Clondrohid Parish, Cork. I don't have any other information on the other members of this family.

dear mmwolfe ,  firstly , apologies for not getting back to you sooner -somehow i couldnt find your message . im not that flash on the computer !!! you wouldnt believe how great it was to hear from one of "my" callaghans !!! lots of people have looked at my messages  , but yours has been the only positive reply . what has always puzzled me is why michael and mary didnt take all their children to australia . i realize that you said you dont know much about the  other callaghans , only about denis ,  however , i would be over the moon if you could let me know whatever you can about them . i can give you as much as i have from the australian end . as i said ,  i would love to make the connection somehow .  thanks a lot . regards from down under , mick purdon .

hello , everyone  , thought id put a new  message on , as its over 2 years since my last one . still searching for anyone connected with michael and mary[ maher/mahony] callaghan from west cork , who migrated to adelaide  , southaustralia  in 1846 , along with a number of their children -james , mary [mrs butler] , patrick , john  , edward . a couple of their children were left in ireland to be cared for by who knows whom. i notice my site has been looked at some 2800 times !! hopefully  , there is someone out there who can help with any info on this family - and yes , i do realize callaghan/ o'callaghan is a very common name! love to hear from anyone . thanks , mick purdon , bendigo , victoria , australia .
