1851/61 lookup Kingerley please.
« on: Monday 25 April 05 19:53 BST (UK) »
This is a long shot but I am trying to track down Emma Kingerley. She was born in Wisbech St. Mary, Cambs around 1837 and is recorded there on 1841 census as Emila. However she has disappeared by the 1851 census, although the rest of her family are there. In 1868 Emma marries Henry Barfoot of the Black Bull, Market Overton and I am trying to find out what happened to her between 1841 and 1868. I was thinking that she may have moved to Rutland as a teenager for work.

Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Alyson.

Thanks for looking for me. The Emma in the 1861 census was his first wife Emma Tomblin.
I discovered her missing quite by accident having thought I had solved just about all the mysteries about that part of my family. I'll just have to keep looking.

The info about the landlords is interesting, although a bit confusing as the dates seem to overlap and have gaps. The Barfoots are supposed to have owned the pub since the mid/late 1700s until it was sold in 1906 after the death of Emma Barfoot (the missing Emma). The last landlord was Samuel Fardell Barfoot, son of Emma, although I believe it was still Emma's name as it was sold according to her will in 1906. 3 of Samuel's children including my Grandmother were born there.

Anyway once again thanks for trying for me.

Alyson.
