This is a real longshot I know, but I'm keeping everything crossed that someone might be able to help.
I have recently discovered that my GG Grandmother - Maria Guiseppa MIELE - after leaving my GG Grandfather and their son in North Devon, moved to Birmingham in c.1910 where she married Salvatore TRESIGNI in 1916 - mysteriously, she REMARRIED him in 1947.
It has now come to light that in the mid 1940's Maria was tried for (possibly) attempted murder. I'm wondering if this is why, in 1947, she remarried (after it was discovered her original marriage to Salvatore was null due to the fact she was already married to my GG Grandfather).
I'm really hoping one of you guys will have a little time to trawl through the Birmingham Newspapers and try and find anything regarding the trial of Maria. Yes, I know, a REALLY big ask, especially considering I dont have a specific date, but, like I said, I'm keeping everything crossed.
Now, I'd imagine that she would have been tried under the name of TRESIGNI - her 'married' name, although her 1947 marriage carries the surnames RAIMO (my GG Grandfathers surname) DYMOND (the anglisised name my GG Grandfather took) and TRESIGNI!
I'll leave it there for now - if anyone does feel they can take on the challenge I'd be truly grateful...
