Daniel Hickman Gedney Hill
« on: Saturday 28 May 11 18:40 BST (UK) »
Hi All,

If someone has access to the 1841 census and 1891 census for Lincolnshire, could you look up Daniel Hickman and his family for me, including occupations, places of birth etc? The family lived in Gedney Hill.

I currently have pay per view credits on Genes Reunited but the 1841 is just totally unreadable and the 1891 doesn't list him at all, you can't do a search without listing a surname, which is just total rubbish, I know he is still alive in 1891 because he does come up Ancestry but Im not subscribed to it at the minute.

I am 40 weeks pregnant and didn't want to pay for a subscription on Ancestry as I just won't have the time to use it once baby arrives, but after trying Genes Reunited's record searching, I will never use them again, its so hard to find someone on there because you have to list a surname, so if the transcriber has got the surname wrong (often done), there is no way of finding him. I wish I had just brought the lowest subscription on Ancestry, even if I only got to use it for one day! Oh well, we live and learn.

Any help with the census would be great, its just the 1841 and 1891 ones I need help with,
Ally  :)

Hi I know what you mean about subscriptions. Would daniel have been 83 in the 1891 census?

the reason I ask is that he seems to be down as widowed living on his own so I wondered if I had the correct entry?

Yeah, sorry, I forgot to add the birth year for him, he was born around 1808 in Gedney Hill so would be about 83 in 1891, his wife is Susanna and she died in 1888.

Hi Ally,
1841 under HICKMA

DELETED Census as already posted. But it looks to me Susannah age 40 is not born in County.

Trish :)

1841 - My version is very very pale but I now see there is a tick in the right hand column which is slightly clearer. That column is headed whether born in Scotland Ireland or foreign parts. well done trish you have better eyes than me :)

Thanks guys, thats a MASSIVE help. Susanna was born in Ely, Cambs according to the 1851 census, the rest simply says 'Not Known'.

Once again, thank you, its saved me a lot of hassle having to sit searching (not something I want to do at 40 weeks pregnant).
