St Curthbert's Parish, Edinburgh
« on: Saturday 28 May 11 23:11 BST (UK) »
Wonder if someone can help me?

I have located several births in the St Curthbert's area of Edinburgh between 1801 - 1814.
On the OPR entries the writing wasn't clear as to establish the location of the births.

Birth 1803 for Isobel Wilson Anderson looks like Banonder Land.
On siblings births it could be Barlow Land or Barrowlock or even  Barven Loch?

Sorry to be so vague but hopefully someone with local knowledge may be able to help

Thanks

It will definitely end in Land. A land in Scotland is a tenement building.

I'm sorry I am unable to post one of the records.

I assume that it would be 'land' but who's??

I have posted the image in question.   My translation is James Anderson, Brewer, Burrowloch and Mrs.

You can check in the PO directory available on the NLS site and also at Scotlandspeople

ANDERSON   JAMES   19/10/1836   BREWER AT BURROWLOCH NEAR EDINBURGH   INVENTORY ; TRUST DISPOSITION   EDINBURGH SHERIFF COURT INVENTORIES

Yes, it's clear now that you see the actual entry. The and is a separate word, not the end of land.
