Stephen Mitchell, Strouden, 1841 Census
« on: Friday 03 June 11 14:41 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I would if possible to try and find out where my 'Mitchell' family come from.

The earliest member on the Census is Stephen Mitchell, who is in Strouden, Parish of Holdenshurst on the 1841 census aged 50.

His son George Mitchell married in Throop independant chapel in 1853, and his son Thomas George Mitchell was one of the founding members of Sholing Baptist Church, Southampton.

Would anyone have any idea of how to go back further.

Regards

Kliffy

Hello Suffolk*sue,

Thanks for the info, just wondering did it say what church the baptism may have been carried out in.

Ideally would like to know when the family became Baptist/ Independants.

Regards

Kliffy
