If any one knows anything about this lady, I will be very pleased to hear.
She was probably born late 1880's to early 1900's.
She is more than likely related to a Fawcett family in Ashburton, as she went to school there and also later lived with a Fawcett aunt. (These details from "Ancestry").
She probably never married.
I have not found a birth, death, or burial date and place.
I have been through "Ancestry" repeatedly and have not found any clues.
Any help most appreciated.

NZBDM has a marriage

Horatio MOULDY to Jane FAWCETT, 1890/2279. Four children between 1891 and 1899

There is a Horatio MOULDY birth 1885, parents Horatio and Martha, although he died aged 2 days. Martha died 1886, so Jane FAWCETT could be second wife.

If she was in Standard 6 in 1905 according to one of the Paperspast articles, she would have been 11-13 years old.

Horatio and Jane had a daughter Martha Jane born 1891. Could it be her.

She is still in Ashburton in 1928

Horatio MOULDY married Martha COLLINS at St Botolph without Bishopsgate on 4 Dec 1864.

If Jane Fawcett came from Ashburton, perhaps she went back there after Horatio died.

Here's a possibility, although the spelling of the surname is inconsistent.

The latest listing of Lalla Alice Jane MOULDAY on the NZ Electoral Rolls is in 1957 in Sydenham, Christchurch (ancestry.com)

The NZ Deaths fiche for 1963 lists an Alice Martha Jane MOULDEY, aged 71 of Christchurch, page 3 of Folio 337

1963-71 = 1892 which is near enough to the BDM NZ website listing mentioned by Eyesee, namely 1891/877 MOULDY Martha Jane, born in Kawakawa. (Birthplace found on NZ Births fiche for 1891)

If it's in the budget, purchasing Alice Martha Jane MOULDEY's 1963 death certificate might clear things up.



And, if it's of any help, the siblings mentioned on the BDM NZ website (William, Cecil and Cicely) were also born in Kawakawa.

William Horatio (Bill) MOULDAY is buried in the Northern Suburbs Cemetery in Ryde, NSW.

Cecil Walter Hay MOULDY is buried in Waikumete Cemetery in Auckland.

The ashes of Cecily Lucy Annie PENGELLY m.s MOULDY were spread at the Hamilton Park Cemetery in Hamilton.

Hi again...

If you're wondering about the Kawakawa connection (understandable cos it's a long way from Ashburton to the top of the North Island) both Horatio MOULDY and James HAY have probates at Auckland Archives and they both mention Kawakawa.

MOULDY Horatio - Kawakawa - Farmer - 1899 - High Court Auckland, Department of Justice - Auckland

HAY James - Kawakawa - Retired Farmer 1961 Whangarei High Court - Auckland

It may be worth looking into them.

Plus (courtesy of PapersPast) the Ashburton Guardian mentions Horatio's death in Kawakawa. He is listed as Peter Fawcett's son-in-law and I'm pretty sure Jane (Lalla's mother) is one of Peter and Jane's (Lalla's grandmother) half dozen or so daughters.

Plus James in buried in Kawakawa Cemetery.

Hello Beg,

How on earth did you find the death of William Horatio Mouldy? I had quite decided he was in Australia - and was going to leave it at that for a while.

Re the probable death year for Alice Martha Jane Mouldey in 1963 - wonder why I can not see that on the web site - I can see another email from me to NZ BDM's (see a later listing from me).
