Pottery in Market Harborough area
« on: Sunday 05 June 11 13:22 BST (UK) »
In 1851, Daniel Dunbavand from Prescot, Lancashire was lodging in Little Bowden, on the outskirts of Market Harborough (HO107/2079 ED3 FOL138 P4).

His wife and dependant children were at home in Prescot, where Daniel died in1857.

Daniel, like many of the family was a potter, so why was he so far from home? Had he been poached to set up a business there? John Balmer, 37, another potter from Prescot, is also lodging nearby, so this seems a likely scenario.

Does anyone know of a likely pottery in the district, and if so what sort of goods did they make?
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.
