Hi

Have signed up to do start this certificate in October and wondered if anyone on RC has studied it?

What were your thoughts about the course?  Good bits, bad bits?  Bits to watch out for?  How has the qualification helped you since?

I'm quite excited about starting studying again, and studying something I currently have a lot of interest in.

Hello Kerry

I've bought all the books. Are you hoping to become a professional genealogist at the end?

Probably!  Well I've got to supplement my public sector pension somehow! ROFL  ;D ;D

Seriously though there are some interesting subjects on the diploma course, 2nd year that could be useful.  The first year subjects, when I first looked I thought I knew about them - bmds and census etc but I bet I don't.  I think it's a really good opportunity to add to my knowledge of where to go looking to find out more about my ancestors and to get more out of the bits I already think I know.

Is this an online/distance learning course or is this a course to be attended at Strathclyde?
Are there any links to this course to see what the entry requirements are?

Long distance online course and I think it has been mentioned on Rootschat before.

Haven't done it myself, but there is a review of it on this genealogy blog that might be useful: http://professionaldescendant.blogspot.com/2010/09/postgraduate-certificate-in.html :)
