Any info would be appreciated regarding Trinity Place just off King Street in Cambridge,no longer there now has new flats built on it.
Where can I obtain old maps or any details of when the houses were demolished please?

I would imagine that the Record Office is the place to look

http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/leisure/archives/visiting/crocambridge.htm
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Hi arc,

I can give you some information from Cambridge Street directories.  I don't have a complete set but this will provide some timescale.

I have a slight connection with Osborne family who resided there.

Trinity Place from 42 King Street
No thoroughfare.

1930/31
There were 22 inhabited dwellings plus Holy Trinity Parish Rooms.
A Mrs. Cornwell was living at No. 7 (next to my Osborne at No. 6)
Number 7 was on the West side.

I now jump to 1951
Same number of inhabited dwelling and Parish Rooms.
Mrs. E. Cornwell at No. 7

1953
Ditto but with Miss E. Cornwell at No. 7

1955
Ditto to 1953

1957
Miss E. Cornwell still at No. 7
Now just 14 inhabited houses plus the Parish Rooms
3 house on the West side and 11 on the East side

1960
Cornwell gone.
Just Parish Rooms on the West side
8 houses on the East side

1964 to 1967 Just Parish Rooms listed.

1970 Trinity Place is not in directory.

There is a photo of Trinity Place in "Down Your Street" Cambridge Past and Present Vol. 1 by Sara Payne published in the 1980's.

Regards,

Selina

Hi Sorry to bother you but I have just received a copy of a birth certificate today that show that my Grandmother was born at 11 Trinity Place in 1923.

Her Mother was a Cornwell before marrying a Woor.

I have been unable to trace the return of her family following WWI so please forgive this shot in the dark - but could you Cornwells be realted to my Cornwells?

Hope to hear back from you,

Tina

Welcome to Rootschat!

Without any names it's a bit difficult to say who might be related to whom.

Who was your great grandmother Cornwell and who was the Woor she married? Was she Daisy M Cornwell who married Sidney G Woor in Lambeth in 1917, or was she Florence E Cornwell who married Leonard W Woor in Cambridge in 1926?
