Surname meaning and origin (Bearsby)

I am trying to find the meaning and origin of the surname BEARSBY
I have been told that it originated from Scotland. Although I can not find any Bearsby listed.
Most websites I have viewed have no research of this name.
I can find similiar surnames but spelt differently.
Can anyone offer any advise or websites that I could try

Hi Prue,
          Yes it is my family name and I believe there are a few families with this name.
Its a bit of a tricky one I dont seem to be looking in the right place to find the answer.

As an indication only, the name can be see 25 times, as you spell it, in the NBI 3rd edition
between 1814-1943 in various counties mainly south of Warwick/Lincs
With close variations the number increases to 81, not really answering your question though
