Parish Records - Harwich WILD Family
« on: Thursday 09 June 11 18:12 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with my Wild family.

James Wild c1826 Harwich, I think he's the son of James Halstead Wild and Sarah. He has two brothers Joseph c1832 and John c1834 that I know of. James H was a Mariner.

James Halstead Wild marriage to Sarah I'm assuming Harwich between 1814 & 1826, Sarah was born c1796 according to 1841 census, James c1792.

James Halstead Wild's baptism c1792 Harwich, states Harwich as place of birth, and father as Simon, HM Customs Officer in 1856 according to 2nd marriage cert, by which time Simon deceased.

I hope this is not too much to ask. But I am struggling to find any Harwich Records online. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

If you get a bit further back, and if they are still in Harwich, then pre 1706ish PR's are on the SEAX site (google it to get address).
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

I can't see a baptism for Sarah MILBANK, I have searched through until 1801. I did come across a brother for James Halstead WILD in 1793

Simon WILD son of Simon & Sarah WILD born 4 April 1793, bp. 3 May 1793.

Also this baptism which could be from a second marriage of Simon, if Sarah died after the previous baptism. I do not have the burials for that period.
Simon WILD son of Simon & Susannah WILD born 21 Nov 1799, bp. 16 May 1800.

You will have to wait for SEAX to bring the the earlier PR's on line to search for  baptism Simon WILD senior and Sarah  WHITBY, the ones available are too early at the moment.

Hi Jebber,

Thanks you very much for all your help, could not have gone back any further without you help. Your an absolutely genealogy star.

If it's not too much to ask could you possibly check for a marriage between 1793 & 1799 for Simon and Susannah.

Hope it's not too much to ask.
Thanks again.

It was just luck that Harwich and Dovercourt are of particular interest to me.

There may be other WILD entries that I have missed, I was just concentrating on the names you gave. Finding the  baptism of Simon in 1799 was  pure chance, when I was looking for a baptism for Sarah MILBANK. Sorry I could not come up with anything more.

Hi Jebber,

It's okay, I appreciated all the help you've given me and the time it's taken for you to look this information up for me, in your own time. I truly couldn't have got all this information if it wasn't for your hard work. So thanks again.
